Tanglin Arts Studio focuses firstly on the development of self-esteem and confidence & secondly on technique also in a range of styles – ballet, tap, jazz, acrodance and combination classes. We work hard to instill a love of dance and fitness in all of our students. This is what we believe creates dancers!
Location
We
are located in Loewen Gardens, which is part of Tanglin Village.
It is a step closer to nature and a nice break from Singapore's
crowded sidewalks. Loewen Gardens is also home to
Spa@Loewen, Design Intervention,
Expat Living, The
Pantry, The Children's Showcase and Whitelodge kindergarten.
While you wait or after you exercise, you can enjoy espresso in a
relaxing, traffic free garden that is also home to a small
playground.

About the Teachers/Staff
Director, Kathleen Quinn started dance at the age of seven with the Lilburn School of Ballet. In 1985, she became a member of the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre. As a senior member of this company, she performed various
lead roles in ballets such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker and several
locally developed shows. Kathleen was a member of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association and
performed in Call To the Sea choreographed by Vickie Vitum. Kathleen trained under Pennie Abel, former principle dancer of the Atlanta Ballet. She also
trained at the Atlanta Ballet under Tom Pasik. She then studied under Pavel Rotaru of Rotaru Ballet. Kathleen received a dance scholarship
to Ballet West in her early teens. Kathleen spent her later teens dancing with DeKalb Dance Theatre,
where she began her dance teaching career. She won several dance competitions with DeKalb Dance Theatre and then attended Birmingham-Southern College on a ballet scholarship. At
Birmingham-Southern, she studied pedagogy, choreography and much more under
Ruth Henry as well as Mira Popovich who was the leading Prima Ballerina with the Serbian National Ballet
of Yugoslavia for 18 years. She holds a degree in Business Management from Georgia State University. She received Governor’s Honors for the state of Georgia in Dance. As director of
Happy Feet Dance in Asia, Kathleen looks forward to sharing her love of dance with your child.
Teacher, Florence Duranton is a teacher of many arts.
She was born and raised in France. She speaks French, English
and a little Japanese. She danced professionally for several
years. Florence came to us from the American
Club in Tokyo where she was teaching ballet and jazz. She is an excellent teacher inspiring young and
old to be the best they can be and always has a smile!
Teacher, Shaan Battersby began dancing at the age of six in Perth, Western Australia, performing leads in a number of Christmas productions and is currently studying Musical Theatre at LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts. She began her teaching experience as a young teenager, assisting with younger students and quickly moving on to independent teaching of students ranging from age four to adults. Trained in the I.S.T.D. syllabus, Shaan is experienced in Tap, Jazz and Modern as well as Classical Ballet and Acrobatics and looks forward to sharing her skills with you and your children.
Teacher, Gabi McMichen - Teaches ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop. Gabi trained with Georgia Ballet and most recently danced with Atlanta Ballet. After teaching in the Atlanta area, she is thrilled to experience Asia while teaching in Singapore.
Teacher, Cassie Thomson - teaches ballet, tap and jazz.
Office Director, Kerensa Heywood - Kerensa is the person in charge of organizing everything the artists don't think to do....and that's a lot! She is in charge of the business side of things. She has two children (one of which dances with us - Issie).
Office Manager, Tess Torres - Tess is about the most cheerful person you can come across. She has two children of her own and she treats your children as if they are her own as well. She is so loving to our kids and quite organized. If you have question, she is the best person to start with!
